WE are on track to get 30 inches (75 cm) of snow starting, well, just now actually, and ending tomorrow night.

We are waiting only 18 inches in DC, but given how unprepared the city is to handle snowstorms you can expect an "estacion Petare" like chaos. Will share pictures of Obamaland-under-snow next week.

snow memories
When I grew up in DC, we had snow from December to April most every year, and never did we once have a power outage which is NOT good to have in the cold weather..
I loved it because we could eat snow ice cream and miss a few school days...
In Belarus people are more prepared for the snow:Nobody misses a day and old ladies have to go out with a pick ax to break the ice,
so maybe I prefer a little "unpreparedness" :)
Here in NC we are even less prepared than DC.and we enjoy the snow maybe even more.
As much as we work ...we can use a little play time.
I guess you are not used to the cold weather.I could never get used to the heat of Maracaibo.The last time I went there I got heat stoke just climbing the stairs to see the church of Chinquincira.My memories of Zulia are blurry with heat and yeyos.

In the Wizard of OZ, Dorothy was taken to a far away land where she had many trials ad tribulations,but in the end all she could say was " there is no place like home", so grateful to be home again.
It takes loads of time to create a new home, but once we do, 'we can never go home again'.
