Katy says: Dear readers: I apologize for being MIA. I have been swamped with work – my real work, that is – due to a pressing deadline. This should be done by the end of the week.

I also took a week-long vacation with my family. As most of you know, I don’t live in Venezuela, and neither do most of my siblings. So my parents and the rest of us decided to meet in a neutral place – Panama. This gave everyone a good chance to spend their Misión Cadivi dollars. I reckon with the subsidies the government gave my relatives, you could feed a family of 12 for a year in Venezuela. Thanks, Misión Cadivi!

Too bad I haven’t registered for Misión Cadivi yet. I could do it quite easily, given that I have a bank account back home and a credit card from my Venezuelan bank. All I would have to do is activate the credit card, and it’s off to Chilean shopping malls and supermarkets, discounts courtesy of Uncle Hugo. Oh well, I may not be getting any of Chávez’s free money, but it makes me a freer blogger.

So come back next Monday, when we’ll open up the taguara again. And our apologies for this extended recess.
