After the opposition rejected the CNE’s results, María Corina Machado and Edmundo González created a webpage where they uploaded 73% of the tallies, which would prove a landslide victory for González – whom the opposition is already calling “president elect.” Throughout Caracas and the country, spontaneous protests -especially in barrios and low-income areas- erupted to protest the CNE’s official results. At least 46 people were detained, according to NGO Foro Penal, and the National Survey of Hospital reports at least three deaths.
