Venezuelan security forces detained two more members of María Corina Machado’s team: Henry Alviarez and Dignora Hernández. The Public Ministry issued arrest warrants against other seven members, including key figures from her campaign and party such as Magalli Meda, Claudia Macero and Pedro Urruchurtu.
Including two activists released on parole, nine members of Vente and Machado’s team have been detained by State security forces so far in 2024. Two members of minor labor party La Causa R (one was released) were also detained recently. The repressive escalation seems to be another move to derail the opposition from the electoral route.
