The U.S. hasn’t taken hostilities to the next level. Trump’s recent post (a.k.a the supposed killing of 3 alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers) is identical to the first one.

On the other hand, Maduro and the Rodríguez siblings, while not shying away from bellicose rethoric, have made it clear that they want to reach an understanding with Trump, and have been more focused on trying to counteract Rubio’s portrayal of Venezuela as a major player in the drug trade.”

“Cabello appears to have assessed that whether the U.S. threat is real or not, under both scenarios his best play is to be the attack dog.”

“Machado has suggested that the next 40 days will be key, and that any strong American actions will likely occur within that timeframe.”
