Misión Pirulín

Surprisingly, Venezuela actually submitted its “counter-memory” to the International Court of Justice. Nevertheless, it criticized the ICJ’s actions and said it didn’t recognize its jurisdiction.

But What About the Referendum?

Delcy Rodríguez arrived to The Hague on Sunday to attend the ICJ’s audience on the Esequibo dispute and “hand the historic truth of Venezuela.” Nevertheless, she reiterated that the ICJ has no jurisdiction over Venezuela because it never consented over the ICJ intervening in the Esequibo issue.

While the Foreign Ministry confirmed that Venezuela actually submitted its “counter-memory” to the ICJ on Monday, it also criticized the ICJ’s actions and said it didn’t recognize its jurisdiction. “The filing of this document does not imply Venezuela’s consent or recognition of the jurisdiction of the Court in the territorial dispute nor the decision it may adopt on this matter”, the Ministry said.

Afterwards, Rodríguez said they “dismantled” every lie in the audience and handed more than 40 maps that clearly show that the Esequibo belonged to Venezuela. All while eating jumbo-sized pirulín.
